Abstract

The research conducted analyzed the intrapersonal traits of awareness, motivation, and will from the Talent Development Model, which allow for enhancing talent in academic writing, in a university student. It was carried out through a case study, with a 22-year-old woman, a ninth semester student of the Bachelor's degree in Journalism, who was selected from among six cases that showed characteristics of talent in academic writing. For her selection and analysis, a checklist for teacher nomination, in that participated 22 teachers, a rubric for the evaluation of a writing exercise, and an in-depth interview were used. The results show that the case study has intrapersonal characteristics with a high record in qualities for the management of objectives, traits of awareness, motivation, and will, according to the model, in which perseverance, internal and external motivation, constant effort despite adversities experienced, good self-esteem and values such as responsibility stand out in the activities she develops. It is concluded that this case shows intrapersonal traits that can help understand aspects of talent development in academic writing, through work with awareness, motivation, and will in line with the theoretical model.
