Intelligence and personality are positioned as the most researched constructs in the scientific literature within the field of psychology. This study analyzes the relationship between personality and high intellectual abilities in adolescents, as well as the influence of group and gender. The sample included 232 adolescents aged 11 to 16 from the Canary Islands, divided into two groups: students with high intellectual abilities (51 girls and 65 boys) and an equivalent community sample (51 girls and 65 boys). The Big Five Personality Questionnaire for Children, Adolescents, and Adults (MASK-5) and the Adaptive Test of General Intelligence (MATRICES-TAI) were used. The results did not show significant differences in personality according to group, gender, or the interaction of both variables. These findings debunk stereotypes and suggest that differences in students with high intellectual abilities are not due to their personality. No significant personality differences were found between boys and girls either. The importance of continuing to research the particular needs of these students and promoting an inclusive educational approach that addresses their socio-emotional needs is highlighted, thereby reinforcing equity in educational attention.
